Clingmans Dome

Day 17 and 18 Up early and by 8:30 on top of Rocky Top 5440 ft - great views. We decide to push for Clingmans Dome to see the sunset which would make it a 20 mile day. Sunset was a bit cloudy but still beautiful. We camp a short distance away and go back up Clingmans for the sunrise. Wind is blowing 40 mph and cold. We don’t linger after the sunrise and move on. With the wind and cold nobody slept much last night. 7 miles to Newfound Gap and there is Trail Magic. Wonderful food, fruit and cold drinks. Thank You Robin. We go into Gatlinburg and have a good meal and beer at the Brewery. A great few days. Still feel like that kid playing hooky!!!!
